Youre trying to install CentOS 7 packages on CentOS 8, it doesnt work properly, so now youre basically floating a conspiracy theory that RH is actively trying to make docker not work on its new distro version Well, have I got some news for you, loads of other CentOS 7 packages dont work on CentOS 8.

Entertain us by explaining why those dont work either.

The issue you got here has nothing to do with DNF trying to prevent you from installing it, it just has some broken dependancies (containerd).

Use this instead: sudo dnf install --nobest docker-ce With that said, of course features such as DNS will be broken, since its a package meant for CentOS 7, not 8.

Just wait for a CentOS 8 release.

The solution is to actually disabled firewalld (Ive updated my post) - that is what is blocking dockers DNS.

You can install the latest containerd by following my instructions on the docker forum.
